A world map is a representation of the Earth's surface, showing the continents and oceans. The world is divided into several political divisions, including countries, territories, and regions.

Countries: A country is an independent nation with its own government, borders, and population. There are around 195 countries in the world today. Some of the largest countries by land area include Russia, Canada, and China, while some of the smallest countries by land area include Vatican City, Monaco, and Nauru.

Territories: A territory is an area that is under the control of a country, but is not considered to be a part of the country itself. Examples of territories include Puerto Rico, which is controlled by the United States, and Greenland, which is controlled by Denmark.

Regions: A region is a geographical area that is defined by certain characteristics, such as climate, culture, or geography. Some regions are further divided into sub-regions. For example, Europe is often divided into Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and Northern Europe.

It's important to note that the borders and divisions of the world are constantly changing due to political and geographical events. For example, the formation of new countries, the merging of existing countries, and territorial disputes can all lead to changes in the political divisions of the world.
